Greater Yellowstone

Greater Yellowstone: An Ecologicial Layer Cake
A permanent exhibit we hope to open by 2012

Thrilling changes are happening at the Museum of the Rockies, and one of our most exciting endeavors is development of a permanent Yellowstone exhibit.

As a vast learning laboratory, Greater Yellowstone is a scientist's treasure trove of opportunities to study geology, geoecology, environmental and earth sciences, biology, microbiology, thermal biology, chemistry, and much, much more.

Today, researchers at Montana State University and many other universities and institutions around the world are unveiling Greater Yellowstone's hidden treasures.

In partnership with Montana State University and Yellowstone National Park, the Museum will fully immerse our audience in the Greater Yellowstone phenomena that happen too quickly or too slowly for visitors to see--events and processes that stretch our literal and figurative borders, boundaries, notions, and ideas. Connections and relationships made here through the processes of science will afford visitors an unmatched opportunity to discover amazing things in this ecosystem, their ecosystem, the world.
