Songs of Yellowstone & the Tetons: Concert and CD

March 08 -- Based on a simple premise that America’s greatest places should be accompanied by great songs, the Western Folklife Center presents Songs from Yellowstone and the Tetons, a concert to launch a new CD of the same name. The musicians performing in the concert include Yellowstone Teton Song Contest winners Connie Dover and Skip Gorman, Ray Doyle, and Jon Chandler.

MUSEUM LAUNCHES PUBLIC PHASE OF MOST AMBITIOUS FUNDRAISING EFFORT IN ITS HISTORY

Feb 08 -- On February 29, 2008 the Museum of the Rockies will launch the public phase of the most ambitious fundraising effort in its 50-year history—a $16 million capital campaign. The Museum has already raised $15 million of the $16 million goal and will raise the last $1 million in the final public phase of the campaign.

DISCOVERY CHANNEL FEATURES JACK HORNER

Feb 08 -- Montana State University paleontologist Jack Horner will be featured in an upcoming Discovery Channel documentary on the possibility of recreating dinosaurs. "Dinosaurs: Return to Life?" is scheduled to air at 9pm (EST) on Sudany, Feb. 17, but viewers should check local listings. Horner is the Ameya Preserve Curator of Palenotology at MSU's Museum of the Rockies, and Regents Professor of Paleontology in Montana.

2007:A YEAR FIT FOR A KING

Jan 08 -- At the Museum of the Rockies, 2007 was a year fit for a king—specifically King Tut. The Museum is giving the pharaoh, and some dinosaurs, a lot of credit for making 2007 one of the most successful years in its 50-year history.

MUSEUM OF THE ROCKIES OPENS NEW DINOSAUR COMPLEX

June 07 -- Five years in the making, with over 10,000 square feet of displays and thousands of fossils, the final phase of the Museum of the Rockies' new Siebel Dinosaur Complex is now open. The Complex houses the exhibit Dinosaurs under the Big Sky, based on the work of world-renowned paleontologist and advisor to the Jurassic Park films, Jack Horner.

EASTERN MONTANA DINOSAUR NOW YIELDS PROTEIN THAT'S 68 MILLION YEARS OLD

June 07 -- The Eastern Montana dinosaur known as B. rex has done it again. The Tyrannosaurus rex that became famous for yielding soft tissue, blood vessels and tissue typical of a female bird has now produced 68-million-year-old protein.

June 07 -- The Museum of the Rockies has received the largest donation in its history—a $3.275 million dollar gift from Ameya Preserve.

WORLD FAMOUS T-REX NAMED AFTER FAMOUS PHILANTHROPIST

June 07 -- A world-famous Tyrannosaurus rex has been named “Catherine” after business woman and philanthropist Catherine B. Reynolds. The T-rex is housed at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana and it has rocked the world of paleontology multiple times by yielding incredible discoveries. The discovery and excavation of the dinosaur was largely funded by Reynolds.
