DESCRIPTION:The critically acclaimed documentary Facing the Storm tells the story of our tempestuous relationship with the American bison\, iconic symbol of the American West. The film explores both the history and the future of this magnificent animal – from the tens of millions of wild bison that once roamed the West\, to the tribes that still maintain connections with them; from the slaughter of bison in the late 1800s to conservationists’ epic vision to restore bison on today’s Great Plains. This event will feature a pre-screening of this film\, set to air on Montana PBS later in April. The film will be followed by a brief discussion with bison advocates and tribal members regarding current bison conservation and restoration efforts. A reception with light refreshments will be held immediately following the program.
