Douglas Wolk read all 27,000-plus Marvel superhero comics from 1961 onward, then wrote a book about the experience, “All of the Marvels.” In this lecture, he will condense Marvel’s half-million-page story down to a single lecture and slideshow, highlighting the mega-narrative’s central themes and pivotal moments.
Douglas Wolk is a pop culture critic, teacher, writer, and the author of All of the Marvels, Reading Comics, and 33 1/3: Live at the Apollo. Wolk has been a National Arts Journalism Fellow at Columbia University and a Fellow in the USC Annenberg/Getty Arts Journalism Program. Currently, he teaches comics history at Portland State University.
Free and open to the public. Book sales and signing follow the lecture.
