Lost Lake of Montana: The Paleogene Beaver Creek Locality

Join University of Montana's Paleontology Collections Manager, Kallie Moore, for an insightful look into the Eocene-Oligocene-aged Beaver Creek fossil locality. This diverse fossil assemblage includes plants, insects, and vertebrates - some with remarkable soft body preservation. Although this site was discovered in the 1970s and contains several 'first occurrence' fossils for Montana, it has remained almost entirely unstudied...until now.

MOR's Presenting Prehistory: A Paleontology Lecture Series explores recent paleontological findings and current hypotheses as conveyed by scientists who are actively exploring how life on Earth has changed. Discoveries made by paleontologists continue to shed new light on the deep past of the planet and the creatures that arose here.

Free and open to the public in the Hager Auditorium.
Refreshments will be provided post-lecture during the speaker meet-and-greet.

Registration is suggested via this link.
