Natalie grew up in Helena, Montana. In 2019, she attended Montana State University (MSU) to study wildlife biology. There, she discovered her interest in museum work and gained her first exposure to collection care. Natalie worked as a biological collection assistant at the MSU Vertebrate Museum for three years. She undertook large projects, such as digitizing the collection database, photographing specimens, and daily care of the various animal pelts and skulls.
In the Summer of 2022, Natalie began at Museum of the Rockies as a student intern in the Cultural History Department as an acquisitions cataloging intern. Her time was primarily spent cataloging the Hilleman Collection, a collection of objects belonging to Dr. Maurice Hilleman, one of the world's most influential scientists and vaccinologists. In the Fall of 2023, she co-curated an exhibit showcasing new objects in the history collection that feature Maurice Hilleman and his contributions to global health.
Natalie graduated from Montana State University in Fall 2023 with a Bachelor of Biological Sciences in Organismal Biology. She also completed MSU’s Museum Studies program. The following Spring, she taught a plant identification lab for MSU’s Ecology Department. Natalie maintains her passion for biology and natural history and continues to assist the Ecology Department in their Herbarium collection during her free time.
In the Summer of 2024, Natalie joined the MOR team full-time in the Cultural History Department. She is excited to continue contributing to this museum and to everything it offers to Montana and the world.
