Executive Leadership

Executive Leadership

The executive director plays a crucial role in providing overall leadership to Museum of the Rockies (MOR). This includes establishing key strategic, institutional, and capital priorities to shape the museum's direction. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, the executive director drives the museum's forward trajectory, securing and managing the necessary resources to fulfill its mission and ensuring accountability to the public.

The executive director's cabinet consists of department directors and museum curators, forming a cohesive team that collaborates on important decision-making and operational aspects of the museum.

Museum Governance:

  • The museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization governed by the Museum of the Rockies, Inc. Board of Trustees.
  • Also, as a college-level division of Montana State University, MOR operates with the approval of the Board of Regents of the Montana University System.
  • The executive director, appointed by the Montana State University president upon the advice of Museum of the Rockies, Inc. Board of Trustees, holds a direct reporting line to the university president, ensuring effective communication and alignment between the museum and the university.
