Elizabeth Lee

Database and Grants Manager

Elizabeth grew up in North Central Pennsylvania before the pull of deeper snow and taller mountains led her to the University of Vermont, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography with a minor in Sociology. After graduating, she traded the East Coast for the Rocky Mountain West, spending 6 years as a raft guide before finding her way back to the classroom at Montana State University.

At MSU, Elizabeth earned a Master of Science, conducting research as part of the Resources and Communities Research Group. Her thesis examined the intersection of high-net-worth philanthropy and place-based principles in Central Montana, exploring how private giving shapes rural community development. This work deepened her understanding of how institutions like Museum of the Rockies can serve as anchors for the communities around them, not just in cities, but across the wide and often overlooked rural landscapes of the region.

What excites Elizabeth most about her role at MOR is the opportunity to extend the museum's world-class resources to rural communities, ensuring that geography never determines access to learning, culture, or discovery.

When she's not in the office, Elizabeth is probably wet or cold, and completely happy about it.
