World-renowned dinosaur fossil collections and more

Museum of the Rockies (MOR) hosts a mix of primary and traveling exhibitions, including one of the most extensive and significant collections of dinosaur fossils in North America. The massive skeleton of 'Montana's T. rex' and other prehistoric animals stand as a testament to the giants that once ruled these lands 65-85 million years ago.

A leading institution in paleontological and cultural history

Located in Bozeman, Montana, Museum of the Rockies (MOR) is a distinguished cultural and natural history institution that brings the past to life through science and discovery.

Operating as an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a college-level division of Montana State University, the museum bridges groundbreaking research with engaging public education. MOR is a Smithsonian Affiliate and the official repository for state and federal fossils, safeguarding Montana’s paleontological treasures for generations to come.

The American Alliance of Museums has accredited MOR as one of just 1,106 institutions nationwide to hold this distinction out of an estimated 33,000. The museum also participates in the Association of Science Technology Centers Travel Passport Program, granting members easier access to other science museums across the country. Locally, MOR proudly partners with the Montana Dinosaur Trail, a collective effort to showcase the state's rich paleontological heritage.
